Tech brief: IBM Rational and compliance

IBM Corp. released Rational Systems Developer for helping systems engineers manage software development and comply with government mandates, such as the Defense Architecture Framework and the Navy Open Architecture. The software is built on the open-source Eclipse development platform and should help agencies migrate applications to a service-oriented architecture. Company officials said the product's ability to turn Unified Modeling Language 2.0 code into C++, Java or Cobra means easier coding.
