Tech brief: Tangent protects surfers

Tangent Inc. of Burlingame, Calif., last month released the latest version of its Web Hawk content filtering software. Used primarily by schools and libraries, Web Hawk is a server-based application that deploys monitors throughout a network to block access to inappropriate sites. The new product is designed to be compliant with the Children's Internet Protection Act. It runs on Windows servers and can cost less than $1,000 to roll out, according to the company.
