Ascendent Systems, which is part of Research in Motion Ltd., has developed the
Ascendent Voice Mobility client for BlackBerry.
The software is a BlackBerry-specific version of technology that effectively pushes in-house voice calls to handheld devices. The Voice Mobility software extends an organization's Private Branch Exchange or IP-PBX capabilities to the handheld.
According to the company, 'The new client software will authenticate a user through an encrypted key via BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which in turn authenticates the BlackBerry handset to the phone system.'
