USPS names new CFO

The U.S. Postal Service has named Harold Walker as its new chief financial officer and executive vice president.

Walker, a certified public accountant, not only will run USPS' financial management division but also will oversee IT and supply management functions. Walker is not replacing Postal Service chief technology officer Bob Otto; Otto instead will report to Walker.

Walker replaces Richard Strasser, who retired in April after 37 years. Bob Peterson, the USPS treasurer, had been acting CFO until a successor was named.

Before coming to USPS, Walker was vice president of finance and CFO for Invensys Controls of Carol Stream, Ill., and for Whirlpool Corp.'s international operations.
