Text comms in a storm

GCN Tech brief

With the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina looming, Jefferson Davis Parish in Louisiana recently deployed the Roam Secure Alert Network from Roam Secure Inc. of Arlington, Va. (www.roamsecure.net). RSAN is an emergency text-based communication system for citizen notification and first-responder communication. By logging into a Web site, parish residents can be alerted during a crisis or receive routine communication from the local government.
