Social Security awards HSPD-12 contract to Probaris

The Social Security Administration awarded a contract to Probaris Technologies Inc. of Philadelphia, for its enterprise Web platform to assist SSA in implementing Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12.

The platform is designed to integrate with third-party components and supports Federal Information Processing Standard 201, including the automatic generation of unique identification numbers for personal ID verification credentials. Probaris will also provide training and maintenance. Social Security awarded the short-term contract through GSA's Federal Supply Schedule 70 under GSA's HSPD-12 Products and Services.

Under HSPD-12, agencies must establish a single, interoperable identity credential that individuals use for physical and logical access by Oct. 27.

Earlier this week, GSA released a request for proposals on behalf of Social Security for vendors to produce 100,000 personal ID verification cards to meet HSPD-12 requirements.

This is the second contract Social Security has awarded to Probaris. Earlier this year, Social Security licensed Probaris' Secure Process/Personal Identity Verification Web platform and services through May to assist with identity vetting requirements before issuing new ID credentials to employees and contractors.
