Peace Corps updating IG data system

The Peace Corps Inspector General data system is growing up.
The agency is implementing an enterprise IG Case Management system that will allow the Corps to keep track, around the clock, of reported fraud cases, abuse and other crimes involving the agency. The Corps hired MicroPact of Herndon, Va., to implement its entelliTrak system, which is an online tracking, reporting and data management system.
The contract has a base year with a two-year option. MicroPact would not comment on the amount the contract was worth.
'We are proactive in investigating waste fraud and abuse and in order to assist our investigation we wanted to get a computerized case management system,' said David Kotz, IG for the Peace Corps.
Kris Collo, MicroPact's president, said the new system 'will be much more effective in helping them manage their increasing case load, and still be affordable to them.'
EntelliTrak lets each user configure the system to its own needs, according to the company.
The Agriculture Department, the IRS and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. are among 45 federal agencies, including eight of the 10 largest, that already use the entelliTrak system, the company said.
The Treasury Department and the Railroad Retirement Board use the entelliTrak system specifically for IG case management.
Currently, Peace Corps officials develop spreadsheets on their notebook PCs to keep track of these issues, but face challenges in exchanging data. Incompatible technology, discrepancy of time at its 70 posts worldwide and incongruent data make it hard to prepare a report and exchange information.
