NIH shifts to research grant e-applications

The National Institutes of Health will require organizations that apply for its major research project grants to submit applications electronically starting Feb. 5. NIH will not accept paper applications after that date for R01, NIH's original and oldest grant mechanism for health-related R&D.

NIH began with the electronic submission of Small Business Innovation Research applications last December. Since then, it has received more than 18,000 unique grant applications.
