Oracle Corp., of Redmond Shores, Calif., agreed on March 1 to buy Hyperion Solutions Corp., a major provider of performance management software. The $3 billion deal, according to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, 'makes Oracle the category leader in the high-growth enterprise performance management market.' Hyperion currently has more than 12,000 customers in 90 countries, and Oracle's acquisition is targeted at expanding Oracle's offerings to SAP customers.
