BlackBerry goes global

Research in Motion and Verizon Wireless have introduced the first BlackBerry global phone: The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphone. Verizon will offer its Global Support Pack as an option for the 8830, which includes an international SIM card and 24-hour customer support. In addition to supporting international roaming on EVDO and GSM/GPRS networks, the 8830 will allow Internet and e-mail access in more than 60 countries. The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphone became available to Verizon Wireless business customers May 14 and will be in Verizon Wireless Communication Stores May 28.
