Web app platforms

The Numerator

According to researchers at Sun Microsystems, scripting frameworks such as Ruby may be easier for developers to work with, but a full-fledged Java Enterprise Edition application can handle a bigger workload. For the tests, researchers built three identical applications. One version was written in Ruby on Rails, one in Groovy on Rails (Grails) and one using Java EE 5. All were tested on the same server. They found that neither Ruby on Rails nor Grails applications could match the performance of JEE 5 applications. For a full rundown, go to GCN.com/783.
