DHS bill moves forward
The House Appropriations Committee has produced a fiscal 2008 Homeland Security Department spending bill that funds a number of major government identity-solutions initiatives.
The House envisions that the federal government will spend $687 million on a variety of such programs next year. If one trend emerges from reading the bill, it is that the new, Democratic-controlled House strongly supports U.S. identity-solutions programs and is frustrated that many of them have not moved faster.
