GeoData speaks the Language

Tech brief

MetaCarta (www.metacarta.com), a provider of geographic search and referencing solutions, has announced two new geographic data modules that identify, disambiguate and resolve Arabic and Spanish geographic references found in documents.

Thanks to the modules, Spanish and Arabic documents can be made 'location-aware,' making that information available to be geographically categorized, visualized and mined.

The software will allow MetaCarta's GeoTagger to automatically identify the language and character set of each document and assign latitude and longitude coordinates and country code tags to each place name in the document.
