Simplified data access for Google Earth Enterprise

Google Inc. has announced an enhancement to its Google Earth Enterprise mapping system that will allow users to view geospatial data in two-dimensional format from the product on a Web browser.

The main advantage of the enhancement is to make it faster and more flexible for enterprise users to access their organization's proprietary data for mashups. The new feature eliminates the need for those users to access the data through the Google Earth client, and allows administrators to embed a view of the data into any Web application. The feature does not apply to other versions of Google Earth or to the Google Maps Web application.

Google Earth Enterprise is composed of three parts: Google Earth Fusion (a data integration module), Google Earth Server (the data server module) and Google Earth Enterprise Client. The suite is designed for organizations that need to make their own data accessible within the Google Earth interface.
