By next year, sales of laptop PCs in the United States will exceed sales of desktop PCs and servers for the first time, according to IDC Research. In fact, if you measured all portable computers against stationary models, portables will come out on top this year. Almost 39 million portables will be shipped in 2007, compared with 38 million desktops and servers.
