Store data securely with DiskAgent

Spearstone is offering DiskAgent, a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) product for secure data storage. DiskAgent provides online backup to enterprise data centers and centralized data management; it protects data against hardware loss and gives IT administrators the ability to trace and potentially recover stolen machines.

DiskAgent complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security regulations by encrypting all stored data en route to and within Amazon S3, the online storage service offered by Amazon Web Services, and EC2, Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud environment. Using DiskAgent, IT administrators also can enforce document retention policies, as well as grant or restrict user access to remotely backed-up files, according to company officials.

DiskAgent also offers disaster recovery and remote delete capabilities that comply with HIPAA contingency planning requirements, keeping patient data secure in the event of hardware failure or theft, Spearstone said.
