Solo Cases announced yesterday that it is developing a line of checkpoint-friendly laptop PC bags in compliance with the Transportation Security Administration's
new guidelines.
Solo's FlyThru laptop cases were the first to pass testing by Travel Sentry, a company that designs and manages standards to improve travel security in cooperation with government security agencies, airlines, airports and the travel goods industry, company officials said.
Airport screeners will be able to X-ray laptops without having to remove them from their carrying cases, according to Solo.
The company plans to release several of the new designs in the fall, including a mesh-covered removable sleeve for 15.4-inch laptops that features cutout windows for easy identification by airport security and a clamshell portfolio that will lay flat across X-ray belts during screening.
The products will cost between $30 and $60 and will be sold at office supply and consumer electronics stores.
