Astaro's new gateway offers e-mail encryption

Astaro today announced the release of Version 7.3 of the Astaro Security Gateway security appliance.

Version 7.3 boasts more than 100 new features, including a redesigned UserPortal, a faster Mail Security Engine, an integrated Active Directory browser and free e-mail encryption as part of Astaro's Mail Security Package, the company said.

Astaro filters e-mail, offering users an inbox free of spam and malware, the company said. Employees are spared the time-consuming task of sifting through their inboxes to remove unwanted and potentially damaging e-mail, Astaro representatives said. Employees can review their own spam quarantine reports and maintain whitelists.

The UserPortal also lets employees create virtual private network connections and configure their remote access, so they can use company resources from almost anywhere, Astaro representatives said.

The e-mail encryption feature automatically signs and secures e-mail messages at the network's gateway, company officials said.

The latest Astaro Security Gateway release is available as hardware, software and virtual appliances for $345. To access the release notes, visit staro.com/AstaroV73_releasenotes.pdf
