New options for Motion Computing PCs

Motion Computing has released a smart card reader and an Ethernet module for the company's F5 tablet PC and C5 Mobile Clinical Assistant.

The smart card reader, made by ITG OmniKey, supports the Windows XP and Vista operating systems. The card has a transmission speed of 12 Mbps.

The EasyConnect USB/Ethernet module connects to the table PC's docking connectors and features one 2.0 USB port and one 10/100 Ethernet port.

Both the C5 and F5 are designed for harsh environments, according to the company. Both devices have a rubber overmold that protects them against bumps and drops, a chemical-resistant resin coating that is easy to disinfect, optional solid state drives for shock and vibration protection, and a thermal management system, Motion Computing officials said.

The company also debuted the Carry Sleeve, a case designed specifically for the C5 and F5 that provides a shoulder strap, hand strap and easel.

Both the smart card reader and the EasyConnect USB/Ethernet module are available now. The Carry Sleeve ships next month.
