Wireless camera does double duty

VideoComm Technologies has announced a 5.8-GHz outdoor wireless day/night camera. The infrafed (IR) camera deploys high-resolution wireless video applications, undisturbed by interference from 2.4-GHz 802.11 b/g networks, according to the company.

The camera is suited for permanent or temporary outdoor monitoring applications where trenching cable may not be possible, VideoComm representatives said. It can transmit up to 1,000 feet in line of sight and has 60 IR light-emitting diodes. It's also shielded from the elements by an enclosure that's received an IP-66 rating, a standard for weatherproofing.
