Transition Watch: What should a federal CTO do?

As well as speculation about who would take the job as the
government's chief technology officer under President-elect
Obama, there's almost as much talk about what the CTO would
do once in office, according to the Washington Post.

Ideas include everything from a focus on broad policy issues
such as net neutrality and broadband access to a narrower focus on
using technology to make government more efficient and transparent,
as well for collaborating with the public.

There's also increasing speculation about whether it will
be a cabinet-level job, or one based inside the White House, the
Post said.
