Rapp joins 1105 Government Information Group as editorial director

The 1105 Government Information Group, publisher of Government Computer News, has hired David Rapp, a longtime executive at Congressional Quarterly, as editorial director. Rapp will serve as editor in chief of Federal Computer Week and editorial director of all content for the company, which also publishes Government Computer News, Washington Technology, Defense Systems and Government Health IT.

A journalist in Washington since 1985, Rapp started as a reporter at Congressional Quarterly and rose to become the company’s top executive from 1997 to 2006. He created and developed CQ.com. He left in January 2007 to start his own publishing company and created TravelBeat.net, a collection of travel blogs.

1105 officials also announced that Stephanie Decker, previously with The Weekly Standard and Politico, has joined the company as director of marketing.

Rapp and Decker will start their new jobs later this month.
