CDW-G releases mass notification toolkit

CDW Government Inc. has launched a new Web site to help government agencies develop mass notification systems for alerting populations during a crisis.

Without trying to sell specific products, the site provides guidance on implementing notification systems. It covers such topics as what personnel need to be involved in system development, what information technology infrastructure must be present and how advertise and get buy-in to the systems. The site also includes a resource section with a number of case studies.

The technologies considered include radios, amplified speakers, indoor alarms, e-mail, SMS messages, desktop alerts, reverse phone dialers and message signs.

The site can be accessed here.
