Iogear has announced two new products to make it easier for small workgroups to share office peripherals. The 2-port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch lets small offices and homes with multiple computers share USB printers, and the 4-port USB Net ShareStation lets users share up to four USB devices via a home or office network.
The 2-port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch is the only automatic printer switch that’s compatible with Macs and PCs, Iogear said. Two USB cables let users hook the switch to their computers. The switch can automatically detect what machine a print job is coming from once it’s connected to a USB printer. It also doesn’t need an external power source, and LED indicators show which computer has USB access. Compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista, as well as Mac OS X 10.3.9 or greater, it sells for $27.95.
The Net ShareStation lets smaller workgroups share resources, letting users access up to four USB devices, such as external hard drives, printers and scanners, across a network. When it’s hooked up to a wireless router, users can access connected peripherals wirelessly. Selling for $99.95, the Net ShareStation works with Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
