SPSS revamps line of analytic software

SPSS Inc. has introduced new versions of its Clementine Modeler data-mining application, as well as its Text Mining for Clementine text-analytics software, and rebranded them under a new portfolio. That portfolio is Predictive Analytics Software (PASW), and includes all of SPSS' predictive analytics products.

Among the new features in PASW Modeler 13 are automated data preparation and a commenting tool. The new version also offers auto cluster, which selects the best cluster algorithm for a dataset, and complete integrations with PASW Statistics.

PASW Text Analytics' new features include prebuilt text analysis packages that deliver out-of-the-box functionality. The new application also offers a variety of natural language processing techniques, such as multilingual sentiment extraction and semantic classification to better analyze opinions and categorize any unstructured data, such as surveys or Web 2.0 data.
