Agiliance adds Privacy Manager to risk and compliance suite

Web interface helps organization measure risks

Agiliance has added a privacy compliance tool to its suite of governance, risk and compliance applications.

The company’s Privacy Manager is integrated on the Agiliance RiskVision platform, made up of seven GRC applications that manage aspects of privacy, risk and compliance.

“Privacy is not the same thing as security,” said Ed King, Agiliance’s vice president of marketing. “Privacy is all about protecting the individual’s rights and how the data is being used.” Privacy tends to be the concern of the legal department, while security falls under the IT department. “There’s usually very little crosstalk between the two groups,” he said.

Privacy Manager uses a Web interface to help organizations performance compliance or impact assessments, distribute privacy policies and measure privacy risk, compliance, and awareness.

Features of Agiliance Privacy Manager include:

  • A dashboard and an automated report generator to support reporting on privacy compliance and impact assessments.
  • A common control framework to enable mapping of privacy controls across numerous laws.
  • Privacy Impact Assessment to support detailed identification, mitigation and reporting of privacy risks.

The U.S. has recently increased oversight of privacy protection with the Healthcare Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009 and new breach notification legislation in California and Massachusetts.
