StarTech sends in the clones

SATA hard-drive duplicator also works as docking station

StarTech has developed a multitasking device that can clone your hard drive. The SATDOCK22R Dual Drive SATA Hard Drive Duplicator functions as both an external hard-drive docking station for your spare 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA/SATA II hard disks of up to 2 terabytes and a hard-drive imaging tool.

The duplicator can function as a standalone hard-drive duplicator with no connection to a host computer, delivering an exact replica of the source hard drive to a destination hard drive of equal or greater size, at a copy rate of 72 Mbps, StarTech said.

The SATDOCK22R can also function as a SATA docking station by connecting it to a computer through USB with support for simple plug-and-play installation. This lets users access a hard drive’s content without having to open up the computer case, StarTech representatives said.

The SATDOCK22R sells for $170. For more information, see
