California's online DMV services a hit with motorists

California drivers can now establish identities through the state's department of motor vehicles' website to access more Web-based services, Sarah Rich writes in Government Technology.

Rich explained that the DMV last year partnered  with IBM to create an identity and access management system so users could set up a user name and password on the department's website.

Now, more than a million users have created online identities, which surprised DMV officials, she wrote.
