Tecore expands 3G/4G platforms for rapid response comm

Tecore Networks, a supplier of 3G and 4G LTE mobile networks, announced an expanded lineup of its Raven wireless platforms, designed for first response and other environments where setting up rapid communications is required.

The Raven systems are a complete 3G/4G network with integrated support for voice, text messaging, video and Internet. The platforms can operate as  standalone islands of coverage or integrate into larger wireless networks.

The complete technology package is sized for tactical operations and comes  enclosed in a wheeled case small enough to be carried on most commercial airlines.

In addition to its size, weight and power, the Raven offers coverage, capacity and capability that are critical to scenarios such as first response, disaster recovery or the battlefield. Federal Emergency Management Agency and other first-responder agencies have been augmenting their traditional emergency radio communications with 3G/4G, the company said, noting that such expanded capabilities may not be always available in the immediate aftermath of a storm or disaster.

The Raven platform offers a portable and localized network for ground personnel and can also access the cloud to help integrate communications in an emergency. “As the world has seen firsthand the tragic events from the Philippines to Japan to Super Storm Sandy, immediate access to communications in a disaster is the lifeline to recovery,” Tecore president and CEO Jay Salkini said in a company statement.
