AirWatch platform to help manage enterprise video

As agencies are increasingly using video for internal communications, training and instruction, IT pros face challenges in distribution, infrastructure limitations, cross-performance experience issues, access control, data loss prevention and telecom expense management.

To address these challenges, AirWatch by VMware announced Airwatch Video, an enterprise video distribution application that that works with content delivery network operators to provide a scalable, secure way to distribute relevant videos to end users, manage permissions for sensitive video content and deliver updates in real time from a central console.

End users will be able to view recent or trending videos, favorite videos and download videos for offline viewing. IT administrators will be able to manage compliance settings and set security policies and enforcement. The AirWatch enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform will allow them to restrict viewing to Wi-Fi only to prevent costly data charges and view usage and engagement statistics.

Additionally, AirWatch Video will deliver analytics and statistics for training and compliance for agencies that may require video training before granting access to secure information.

"AirWatch Video will bring a traditionally costly and complicated undertaking into a simple-to-manage product that integrates with the EMM solutions our customers already use. In addition to detailed usage information critical for training and compliance, organizations benefit from a seamless approach to automatically get the right video content to the right user based on their role in the organization" said John Marshall, senior vice president and general manager, AirWatch by VMware.

AirWatch Video is expected to be available publicly by the end of Q4 2014.
