Azure Government gets new capabilities

Federal, state and local government agencies using the Microsoft Azure Government cloud can tap into two new analytics and visualization services.

Power BI Pro on Azure Government, a business analytics suite that uses dashboards to connect to and aggregate a broad range of live data.  Azure Government customers also will be able to use the Power BI Publish to Web feature, which lets users embed interactive Power BI visualizations in blog posts, websites emails or social media.

HDInsight on Azure Government, a fully managed cloud Hadoop offering that provides optimized open source analytic clusters for Spark, Hive, MapReduce, HBase, Storm, Kafka, and R Server. With HDInsight on Azure, data scientists can combine code and statistical equations to develop models that enable faster and smarter decisions.

Microsoft also announced a preview of Cognitive Services in Azure Government, a series of machine-based language, vision, search and knowledge of application programming interfaces that help developers build apps with just a few lines of code.

The announcements were made at the March 6 Microsoft Tech Summit in Washington, D.C.
