Smart Cities Council announces challenge finalists

The Smart Cities Council has announced the nine finalists for its annual Readiness Challenge grants. The finalists are working to create e-government platforms, digitize transportation and make data easier to use and more accessible, according to an announcement from the Smart Cities Council.
The finalists are Albuquerque, N.M.; Aurora, Ill.; Birmingham, Ala.; Cary, N.C.; Fairfax County, Va.; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; Louisville-Jefferson County, Ky.; and the entire state of Virginia. Puerto Rico will be awarded a special Readiness Challenge grant to help accelerate its hurricane recovery efforts.
The winners will receive mentoring, a workshop city tailored to their specific needs and products and services from Smart Cities Council partners, including Qualcomm, Battelle, SYNEXXUS, CompTIA and IES.
The winners will be announced in March.
