Climate Data Center sets its last paid dataset free

The National Climatic Data Center announced that it has moved the last of its data sets, Quality Controlled Local Climatological Data, from paid access to free access. This dataset consists of HTML or ASCII versions of hourly, daily, and monthly weather summaries for approximately 1,600 U.S. locations.

With the release of this dataset, all of NCDC’s online data is now available from the website free of charge. Customers can still order hard copies and certified copies of the data (as CD-ROMs, DVDs and posters) from the center’s online store.
