The Global Application Delivery Network’s modernized infrastructure will help the Air Force get capabilities to the field more quickly.

Kessel Run, the Air Force’s hybrid acquisition and operations unit that develops, acquires and field software solutions for the warfighter, is looking for enterprise DevSecOps partners to help modernize its infrastructure to get capabilities into the field more quickly.

For the new Global Application Delivery Network, the Kessel Run Program Management Office wants to leverage the advantages of a distributed cloud infrastructure and a continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline to deliver software containers and their data to users across commercial internet and air-gapped networks, the PMO said in an April 23 request for information.

Specifically, Kessel Run is looking for solutions that meet mission needs, including:

  • On-demand infrastructure as a service and scaled commercial cloud infrastructure – including a mix of cloud and on-prem equipment -- across dozens of points of presence.
  • Infrastructure virtualization, hardware operations and network connectivity.
  • Support of weapon systems at major theater war scale.
  • Automated user/developer self service infrastructure requests.

Partners must be able to transition existing legacy infrastructure systems to a modernized hybrid cloud infrastructure, avoiding vendor lock-in. They also must be able to hire and retain elite network engineers, infrastructure architects and engineers to support global network operations.

The PMO noted that Kessel Run an agile organization and welcomes innovative inputs.
