GCN honors public-sector IT innovations with Best of FOSE awards

Government Computer News has awarded 14 technology companies with GCN Best of FOSE Awards for 2009 that recognize outstanding and innovative information technology products for government.
Government Computer News has awarded 14 technology companies with GCN Best of FOSE Awards for 2009. The awards recognize outstanding and innovative information technology products for government exhibited this week during the 2009 FOSE expo in Washington.
Category award recipients include:
- Desktop Computers – Ace Computers, Ace Lightning 200.
- Display Devices – Hyundai IT, 3D LCD Display.
- Handheld Devices – Trimble, Yuma.
- Networking Equipment – Motorola, AP-7131 Tri Radio.
- Peripherals – Digital Identification Solutions, EDIsecure LCP 9000 Desktop Laser Color ID Card Personalization System.
- Portable PCs – Lenovo Group, ThinkPad W700ds.
- Security Hardware – Hewlett Packard, HP Access Control Smartcard Solution for U.S.
- Security Software – Secure64, Secure64 DNS Signer.
- Software for Desktop Systems – SMART Technologies, SMART Meeting Pro.
- Software for Enterprise Systems – Hatha Systems, LLC, KDM Workbench for COBOL.
- Storage – Solid Access Technologies, USSD 200 Model SPO.
- Other – Motorola, Total Enterprise Access and Mobility (TEAM) VoWLAN solution.
- Other – Wiremold/Legrand, Data-Fense Secure Raceway System.
In addition, CMS Products was selected for the GCN Judge’s Award for their BounceBack Ultimate. This award recognizes an innovative solution for government that is not covered under the above categories.
The GCN Best of FOSE Awards were open to any FOSE 2009 exhibiting company that was showcasing a new product for use in the public sector. GCN’s editors and technology analysts reviewed the new products during FOSE show hours and chose the winners based on four criteria: innovation; usability/applicability to government; relative performance based on specifications; and value.
