has joined the Veterans Affairs Department as associate deputy assistant secretary for cybersecurity, a new position.The department aims to improve its information technology security, which has come under severe criticism from the General Accounting Office and VA's inspector general.Brody previously was director of information superiority investment strategy for the Defense Department. He also worked at the Defense Information Systems Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency., a top official at the Food and Drug Administration, has been appointed national director of Cedar Group PLC's federal sector practice. Cedar includes the organization formerly known as the Hunter Group.Before joining Cedar, Byrd spent six years as deputy commissioner and chief financial officer for management and systems at FDA.He also has held senior positions with the Agriculture Department and Maryland's General Services Department. He will work from the Bethesda, Md., office of Cedar, which is based in the United Kingdom. has been promoted to deputy director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, Okla.The move is part of a reorganization of the lab. The Stormscale Research and Applications Division has been split into two parts: the Warning Research and Development Division, managed by , and the new Radar Research and Development Division, managed by former deputy director .Following the reorganization, continues as manager the renamed Forecast Research and Development Division, is leader of the Central Support Services Group, and has been named assistant director of the Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies.
