Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) is taking his idea of letting federal IT employees spend time working in the private sector to the Senate.Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio) last month introduced S 1913, a companion version to Davis' Digital Tech Corps bill, HR 2678. The Senate bill would let federal employees and private-sector IT workers swap positions for up to two years. The intention is for federal IT workers to gain technical expertise and industry employees to bring their knowledge to government.The government would pay its employees' salaries and benefits during the switch, and employees would sign contracts to return to their federal jobs.
