The Food and Drug Administration cites reports that several Web sites are selling counterfeit versions of prescription drug to Americans.

The Food and Drug Administration has posted a warning on its Web site advising consumers not to order prescriptions online from sites that offer drugs through the Mediplan Prescription Plus Pharmacy or Mediplan Global Health in Manitoba, Sask., Canada.

The FDA said there are reports that these companies are selling counterfeit versions of prescription drug to Americans, and is advising consumers who have had prescriptions filled through these Web sites not use the products.

The agency said it is investigating the reports and is 'coordinating with international law enforcement authorities on this matter.'

The FDA said preliminary laboratory results to date have found counterfeits of the following drugs: Lipitor, Diovan, Actonel, Nexium, Hyzaar, Ezetrol (known as Zetia in the United States), Crestor, Celebrex, Arimidex and Propecia. All of these medications require a prescription from a licensed health care provider to be legally dispensed.

The FDA said some of the sites operated by Mediplan or that fill orders through Mediplan include:
