Consumers must familiarise themselves with these time changes. Costco is planning on opening its stores later than usual, and later than other stores. However, it should be kept in mind that the retailer makes all its decisions based on thorough research and there is always a plan behind the decisions being made and the changes that are implemented.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Costco&#8217;s operating hours<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Costco is one of the retailers that generally open later than its competitors. This retailer is known for various crucial things like\u00a0cheap rotisserie chickens, the fantastic bakery, and the various goodies you require to host a great party. However, as mentioned earlier, it is not known for opening its store&#8217;s doors early in the morning. The retailer&#8217;s warehouses open much later than traditional supermarkets, maybe even later than your local Sam&#8217;s Club if you have a Plus membership and many consumers wonder why.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, even though some consumers would love to get in the door before 10:00, there are reasons why the retailer opens later than most stores. Although someone consumers believe opening the stores earlier would benefit them, there are other role-players who would not be at benefit when it comes to opening stores earlier.\u00a0 Some of the reason why <a href=\"https:\/\/gcn.com\/us\/major-change-to-costco-gas-stations\/\">Costco does not operate earlier<\/a> in the morning like its competitors are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To keep the retailer&#8217;s employees happy,<\/li>\n<li>To adhere to meeting demand, and<\/li>\n<li>To focus on lowering operational costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Reasons why Costco opens later<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to Jack Jones, auditor of Costco, the fact that the retailer opens later, works best for the store. He added that there is not as much demand early in the morning, hence the store does not open as early as its competitors. The retailer does a <em>door count\u00a0<\/em>as part of its research to study how many consumers enter the doors of the store, at what time.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, employees have to prepare themselves for the day of work and this generally occur hours before the store opens. Delivery trucks usually arrive around 04:00 in the morning, meaning there should be people ready to collect the products being delivered. For this reason, there are employees who start their workday between 04:00 and 05:00. Therefore, the store opens later than other retailers because there is a lot to do pertaining to controlling efforts and collecting deliveries.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The core values of the retailer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The retailer also announced that it values its employees and therefore providing them enough time to prepare themselves for the workday, since they have other responsibilities to do early in the morning. As stated by Mary Smith, another auditor of Costco, one of the core values of the retailer&#8217;s mission is taking care of its employees. With this comes a sense of responsibility the company has to adhere to by making sure they have a regular schedule with no one overworking themselves, which can lead to many negative consequences like burnout.<\/p>\n<p>Also, by focusing on its employees, the retailer tries to ensure that its employees have a healthy work-life balance. Both auditors of Costco, Jones and Smith, did however let some secrete information out. Those consumers who see themselves as the eager beaver shoppers, should know about the 09:45 &#8220;soft open.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is when the warehouses allow consumers to enter the store a little earlier if they have been waiting outside early enough.
