Shoppers of Walmart<\/a> should keep an eye out on the company website of the FDA official recall page as several items have now been issued with recall notices due to consumer health risks such as possible contaminations, faulty packaging, or undisclosed allergens.<\/p>\n

Multiple products sold at Walmart are being recalled<\/h2>\n

Walmart stores in the United States has had to issue multiple recall notices for a variety of food products recently due to the potential risk of harm imposed on the consumer. The reasoning behind each recall varies from item to to item with some being recalled to due potential contamination, whilst others have defective packaging. Undeclared allergens has also been cited as a cause for some of the recalls.<\/p>\n

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA<\/strong><\/a>) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), along with the retailer itself, has shared information that revealed the tainted products are a mix of offerings from both the private label products, as well as well-known brand name items.<\/p>\n

When products are manufactured on such a large scale as it is for supermarkets and other retailers, the chance of mistakes happening is significantly higher and stems from an array of factors such as labelling mishaps or manufacturing errors. The risks imposed by these defects or errors can also range from mild to potentially severe. Depending on the defect, consumers can even suffer from extreme allergic reactions or bacterial infections that pose a threat to their health.<\/p>\n

Authorities have urged customers to look through the list of impacted products to ensure they are not consuming it on accident. Shoppers should immediately discard of any product that is listed. The big box retailer has also shared that it is working tirelessly to prevent any further purchases of the recalled items.<\/p>\n

List of recalled products<\/h2>\n

Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks<\/h4>\n

The Gerber Products Company issued a recall notice on January 31 for its “Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks” after it was discovered to be a potential choking risk for toddlers or infants, as per the FDA. The teething aid for toddlers had been sold at Walmart stores across the country and the company has advised customers to immediately discard the product.<\/p>\n

Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake and Waffle Mix<\/h4>\n

On January 15, the Quaker Oats Company issued notices recalling its 907.18 gram boxes of “Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix” as it contained milk but was not appropriately labeled as such. This mislabeling could pose a serious risk to individuals with a dairy allergy. According to the FDA, the item was sold in 22 states, including Florida, Texas, Illinois, and California and the retailer has urged customers with allergies to refrain from consuming the product.<\/p>\n

Great Value Chicken Broth<\/h4>\n

A 48 ounce batch of \u201cGreat Value Chicken Broth\u201d was recalled by TreeHouse Foods Inc. on January 14. Great Value is Walmart’s private label brand and the recalled product was sold at eight of the southern states, including Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. According to the statement shared by the company, the recall was issued as a result of “packaging defects that could cause product spoilage.” The FDA has recommended individuals discard the product immediately if it is from the spoiled batch.<\/p>\n

Chicken empanadas<\/h4>\n

On January 9, a public health alert was issued by the FSIS regarded packaged chicken empanadas sold at Walmart. A batch of the product was suspected to have been mislabeled and contained apple cinnamon empanadas instead of chicken. This incorrect labeling could causse potential allergic reactions due to the presence of undeclared milk. The FSIS cautioned that “although the product has not been officially recalled, consumers are advised to check the packages and avoid consumption if they show discrepancies in the labeling.”<\/p>\n

Marketside Broccoli Florets contaminated with Listeria<\/h4>\n

Braga Fresh Marketside brand broccoli has been issued with a recall<\/a> notice by the FDA on January 27 after a routine inspection picked up a possible listeria contamination. The recalled vegetable was sold in 18 states and according to health officials, “Listeria monocytogenes<\/i> can cause serious infections in people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, and older adults.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
