One of America’s biggest retailers, Walmart, is quietly rolling out an in-store update. This is occurring after the retailer has closed down several stores over the past few months. Also, in the past few months, the retailer had severe changes happening at the retailer that have spread out to the other stores. Now, another change is at hand, the retailer is ready for an in-house change that will leave many surprised.<\/p>\n

Walmart is always changing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Over the past few months, Walmart has experienced several changes and consumers are always expectant to see what the retailer brings to them next. Although the retailer is constantly changing, it is important to note that it does not change without doing enough research on what its consumers want and need. The retailer is always on the lookout to make aspects and products more accessible to its consumers, hence the several changes.<\/p>\n

Also, this is just a reminder of how adaptable the retailer is. It is evident that the fan favourite retailer can overcome everything and can adapt to any situation. For this reason, consumers are always running to Walmart stores, and the stores remain full and busy. Another important aspect to mention is the retailer’s successful brick and mortar business model, which allows the majority of the American consumer to have access to a Walmart store, relatively easily.<\/p>\n

Accessibility of Walmart stores<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Since Walmart is one of the most popular American retailers, there are many convenient stores available. Although numerous stores have been closed already, a large number of stores remain open. There is at least one Walmart store located within 10 miles of 90% of the United States population, that is how big Walmart is. As mentioned previously, the retailer is extremely adaptable is this is one of the key factors that makes the retailer so successful.<\/p>\n

For example, in 2020, when most people were staying at home and ordering online and doing online shopping, Walmart launched Walmart+, which is a massive competitor to Amazon Prime. The already robust store fleet increased to double as the online fulfilment centres aimed to make deliveries faster and easier.<\/p>\n

However, the company does not just focus on growth, it knows when to step back and reduced the number of stores available. This is eventually done because it is in the best interest of the business. The retailer announced that it will close 11 stores across the United States, during April 2025<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Also, it sunsetted its Walmart Health venture in 2024, by closing 51 stores in various locations.<\/p>\n

The current change at the retailer<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Currently, the retailer has more changed plans in mind for its stores. It is planning on opening more gas and convenience store locations, depending on the good track record it already has. Walmart will also open more Neighbourhood Market locations. These will be smaller versions of Walmart, and these markets are intended to be more of a grab and go grocery model.<\/p>\n

According to Dave DeSerio, the Vice President of Fuel and Convenience, the addition of dozens of fuels and convenient stations during 2025, will bring more value to the retailer’s consumers. He added that consumers shop at Walmart for their everyday low prices and convenience offerings, and the fuel stations are another example of the retailer responding to the needs of their consumers and members.<\/p>\n

The retailer is all about providing products at a cheaper price for its consumers, but also to make things more accessible and convenient to its consumers. The implementation of these new neighbourhood markets and gas stations are providing that accessibility and convenience many of us need.
