It has been found that thousands of pounds of tuna that were sold at Costco in over 30 states under the Kirkland Signature brand name are being recalled. The reason for the recall is because this product has been connected to an outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes, which could lead to severe illness or death.<\/p>\n
The Western United Fish Company dba Annasea Foods Group, has been recalling about 3,315 pounds of Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke. This took place under the leadership of the Food and Drug Administration, which gain knowledge about this over the weekend. This product that has been affected by the Listeria contamination has been for sale in Costco’s deli section.<\/p>\n
In addition, some of these ahi tunas might contain an outbreak strain of listeria monocytogenes contamination,<\/a> and this can lead to listeriosis, or listeria poisoning. As stated by the FDA, the recall started just after the agency was notified by a green onion supplier of a possible listeria positive test result in the green onions used in Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke.<\/p>\n As stated by the agency’s report on September 20, 2025, the company is continuing to work with their green onion supplier to establish what they root cause of this contamination may be. The specific tuna that ha sbeen recalled is the Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke that was sold on Septemeber18, 2025. It has a sell-by date of September 22, 2025. The item number for the product is 17193 and the tuna was packaged in clear plastic clamshell containers, containing “the Kirkland Signature brand label.”<\/p>\n It was further indicated by the report that 3,314.7 pounds of tuna were impacted by the recall.
