One of America’s top retailers, Costco, made a big, shocking move. This move may come as a surprise to consumers, especially since it is many people’s favourite. The retailer decided to get rid of one of the biggest brands in the world. Even though the retailer got rid of it quietly, members have been sounding the alarm because of this popular line of products that just disappeared from stores.<\/p>\n

Details behind the silent disappearing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As we all know, the retail industry has been under a lot of pressure. This pressure increased over the past few months with the continuous increase in tariffs. Now, Costco, the largest warehouse club in the United States, is seeing its membership numbers skyrocket. One of the main reasons for this is that the company’s products and deals continue to gain traction on social media.<\/p>\n

During the first quarter of this year, Costco<\/a> saw that the company’s paid household membership numbers increase to 78.4 million. This mean this number was up by 6.8% compared to the same quarter last year. The retailer’s comparable sales in the United States also increased by 8.3% year-over-year during this quarter. Also, Costco even outperformed its rivals by drawing in higher foot traffic in its stores.<\/p>\n

Costco cutting ties with popular brand<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Consumers are becoming more and more careful about what they spend their money on. The reason for this is the economic state of the country that is leaving many uncertain. For this reason, Costco decided to quietly remove Xbox consoles from the company’s website. The retailer now only sells Sony and Nintendo gaming devices, such as the PS5 and Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n

Over the past few weeks, some Costco members have taken to\u00a0social media<\/a> to talk about this big move that has been taking place. They stated that the Xbox products have slowly been disappearing from the warehouse club\u2019s website and stores.<\/p>\n

According to one of Costco’s members who made a post on Reddit, \u201cTypically my wife and I buy Game Pass gift cards at Costco when it\u2019s time to renew. We need to reup and to our dismay, the Costco app is showing ZERO Xbox items do not console, not games, and no cards,\u201d <\/em>Another person stated that they went to the store yesterday and there was no Xbox in sight. Although the company did not specifically provide a reason for the recent disappearance of Xbox products, it may be due to low consumer demand.<\/p>\n

The reason for this big move<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This brand has been receiving low demands for quite some time. These low demand for Xbox products comes after Microsoft<\/a> increased the prices of several Xbox gaming consoles in the United States earlier this year. This change occurred shortly after President Donald Trump announced the major tariff rates on China and numerous other countries where Xbox devices are manufactured.<\/p>\n

In addition, it has been found that Xbox prices went up globally for the first time this year in May. It even got to a point where some of the devices increased by $100. On September 19, 2025, Microsoft made another announcement on its website that Xbox Series S and Series X consoles will increase in price in the United States. This increase will be implemented starting October 3, 2025. It has been stated that the reason for this is \u201cdue to changes in the macroeconomic environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
