One of America’s retail giants, Costco, made news headlines because of the company’s new policy. It has been found that the retailer’s policy resulted in the creation of two classes of consumers. Costco<\/a> implemented a new \u2018executive\u2019 policy that was set to be active on August 31, 2025. This is the date when the \u2018grace period\u2019 came to an end. Both the consumers and workers had a lot to say about this new change that the company implemented. It has been stated that Costco’s consumers can expect to see the warehouse club’s new store policy officially take effect in just days, on Sunday, August 31, as the grace period ends.<\/p>\n Once the chain rolls out the new rule, extending its operating hours for those who fall under the Executive members group, consumers of all membership levels will be affected. It has been stated that Costco’s\u00a0Executive members are the company’s highest-paying consumers.<\/p>\n They comprise of about 73% of the company’s sales although this group makes up less than 50% of the retailer’s 79.6 million members, as indicated by the company’s data. In addition, the Executive membership runs consumers $130 annually, this is double the price of the $65 standard Gold Star membership.<\/p>\n Moreover, when it comes to bumping up the value of the premium membership, Costco made a controversial change to its store policy. The retail giant made the big decision to extend its operating hours solely for these consumers, which started on June 30.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The retailer made a statement to Business Insider, and it said that the executive members are the company’s most loyal members. The retailer further alluded to the fact that the aim with this change is to reward these members for their commitment to Costco.<\/p>\n In addition, this new rule meant that Executive consumers were allowed to enter Costco stores an hour earlier than everyone else on weekdays and Sundays. The special operating time set out for this is from 9 am to 10 am, as well as 30 minutes early on Saturdays, which is from 9 am to 9:30 am. Additional to the Executive members change which started on July 30, Costco extended its store hours by an hour on Saturdays.
