In February, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced the Commonwealth was adopting NIST's Cybersecurity Framework as an integral component of its strategy for identifying and communicating cybersecurity risks. This is just the latest example of state and local agencies turning to risk-based methodologies pioneered at the federal level. This two-hour virtual event, featuring speakers from Virginia and other states as well as NIST, will offer insights into how state and local agencies can take full advantage of risk management and other advanced cybersecurity disciplines to improve the security of their critical systems.
Topics to be addressed include:
- The key components of a risk-based approach to cybersecurity
- How to translate a cybersecurity framework into an operational environment
- How to interact with stakeholders and partners in the cybersecurity governance process
- The role of metrics and how to use them
