Modernization on Demand: Addressing Changing Eligibility Requirements

Just about any government agency that tracks eligibility requirements knows the drill: New legislation or policy goes into effect, and suddenly the agency is playing catch-up with its eligibility-related systems. The Affordable Care Act is a case point. This law presented major challenges to states, requiring them to adapt their eligibility systems so that they could meet the requirements of this landmark law.

In this webcast, Jessica Kahn, director of the Data and Systems Group (DSG) in the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, will discuss how organizations can better manage these challenges. Topics to be addressed include:

  • How to develop and leverage a mitigation plan to keep problems from derailing an initiative.
  • The role of federal-state communications in managing an initiative.
  • Strategies for organizing internal staff to provide management and oversight.
