This Tuesday, during the press conference led by the President Claudia Sheinbaum, she was questioned by the journalists present at the event, who inquired about the way of thinking of the President regarding the new prison for migrants that will be built in the state of Florida and will be called ‘Alligator Alcatraz’.
It is for this reason that the Mexican president, in view of the recent constitution of this prison, was forced to pronounce herself before this project initiative against migrants in the United States. Sheinbaum expressed to the media present that she does not agree with the path that the American country is taking with respect to the undocumented in the American territory.
Sheinbaum: A serious mistake is being made
Regarding the establishment of this new prison in Florida, the Mexican president indicated that this measure adopted by the Trump administration would be ill-constituted, since she has been a faithful defender of migrants in the United States, who are currently being treated as criminals.
In addition to this, the Mexican president expressed that currently migrants in the American territory are vital for the economy of the American country, as they are a very important labor force, which is being persecuted and labeled as criminal by the current administration of the White House.
Therefore, Sheinbaum, in her usual press conference, indicated that currently and with the immigration policies promoted by the Trump administration, the American country would be making a serious mistake by rejecting migrant communities, since the United States was formed from migration from many parts of the world.
For this reason, the federal government representative indicated that the creation of this prison would flagrantly violate the human rights of migrants, both Mexican and of other nationalities, who see in this nation the opportunity to be useful to society while at the same time developing economically.
The new prison for migrants
As for the position of the United States, it was learned that Trump supports the implementation of these facilities and it is expected that in the coming hours he will arrive in Florida to visit the facilities that will initially serve to contain migrants accused of committing crimes in the U.S. territory.
“We’re going to teach them how to run from an alligator. “Don’t run in a straight line, run like this,” Trump told the media before leaving the White House for Florida, while making ‘zig zag’ gestures with his hand, in reference to how migrants should run, clearly a message that so far has caused great controversy among the Latino community in the United States.
That is why in the afternoon of today President Trump is expected to arrive at the facilities of this prison for migrants and, in addition to this, meet with one of his most loyal collaborators in the immigration issue, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, and the current governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis.
Migrants, a vital resource for the economy
With the recent statements made just a few hours ago by Mexican President Sheinbaum, the representative of the federal government would be taking a firm stance regarding the implementation of this new prison that will be located in the state of Florida.
In addition to this, the Mexican president indicated that both the Trump administration and the current administration would be making a serious mistake by adopting such positions against migrant communities, since they are an important labor muscle and in large part the livelihood of the U.S. economy, especially in the construction and agricultural sectors.
