FingerMotion’s AI subsidiary is making bold moves into Southeast Asia’s lucrative tech market. The company’s Sapientus division recently showcased cutting-edge data analytics platforms at a major Singapore conference, catching the attention of regional telecommunications and insurance giants. This strategic push represents a significant shift from their China-focused operations, targeting new growth opportunities in emerging markets where digital transformation is accelerating rapidly.

Sapientus highlights AI offerings at Singapore conference

The InsurInnovator Connect Asia 2025 event in Singapore launched Sapientus’ regional aspirations in September of this year. The company showed off the sophisticated AI solutions it offers in terms of transforming difficult-to-manage data into actionable intelligence for businesses. The solutions primarily aim to identify areas in customer acquisition, risk assessment, and product recommendation in different industries, with telecommunications and insurance being among them.

“The InsurInnovator Connect Asia event has not only validated our solutions’ relevance in the market but has also served as an excellent opportunity to network with prospective partners in the industry,” said Martin Shen, FingerMotion’s CEO.

The event served to offer practical validation of market interest, pitting Sapientus as a legitimate contender within the competitive AI market in Southeast Asia. Industry insiders appreciated the company’s different take on cross-sector data analytics.

The regional alliances help to advance the expansion strategy

The Singapore conference has presented opportunities for Sapientus to enter into collaborative engagements with the key players in the regions in telecommunications, insurance, and the field of distribution. Sapientus has taken initial steps to enter into agreements that would help it enter the market significantly sooner than expected.

Indonesia and Thailand stand out as prime targets

On the back of successful speaking engagements at conferences, Sapientus has zeroed in on Indonesia and Thailand as key targets to develop the pilot programs in these countries. These countries represent substantial market opportunities with progressing digital economies and rising demands for complex data analytics solutions in areas such as telecommunications and insurance. Success in Indonesia and Thailand would pave the way for other countries in Asia, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Market analysts point out that Indonesia’s enormous population and Thailand’s sophisticated information technology infrastructure are especially significant in Sapientus’ expansion strategies. Regional cooperative networks are being established to facilitate future market entry on terms consistent with local regulatory regimes. The firm is well aware that to succeed in expansion, it must understand local market forces well and learn the local regulatory requirements in the new market countries it aims to enter.

Establishing regulatory compliance before any expansion

Sapientus is adopting a very calculated approach in expanding to Southeast Asia, where it is choosing to align with the regulations in place before entering the market formally. The firm has indicated that it would work on establishing collaborative networks in the region after ensuring it complies with the regulations in place in the market.

The division provides an “enabling platform” with the capability to “develop, distribute, and serve customers” in the telecommunications and insurance space via powerful analytics and new “digital technologies specifically designed to serve the needs of the telecom and insurance industries.” The compliance work relates to “data privacy, cross-border data flows, and industry regulations,” with “differences across Southeast Asia being significant.” This preparation phase may well hold the key to future success.

FingerMotion’s larger vision is to serve more than 1 billion users in China, while extending the same model to other regions in Asia. The ambition in Southeast Asia is one of the most decisive moments in FingerMotion’s vision to unlock further opportunities in the entire Asia-Pacific market. Success in Indonesia and Thailand would pave the way for other countries in Asia, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
