In 2026, Honor Mobile is set to release the “First AI Robot Phone”. The device will perform the functionalities of a smartphone and feature a robotic arm that will aid the user in performing tasks on the smartphone, as well as perform tasks on its own that a user would require, and have the functionality to interact with the user in a proactive manner. At the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit in November 2025, CEO Li Jian announced the device, which boasts a rippled mechanical arm with a gimbal camera, marking the first milestone for Honor within its Alpha Strategy.

The Honor Robot Phone’s camera is insanely powerful and produces crystal clear images

The Honor Robot Phone’s camera module will feature a motorized, flipping, 360-degree gimbal that will perform auto-tracking and selfie snapping. The camera will have 4K Ultra HD for its vlogging functions, as well as AI-controlled framing. This camera will enable vlogging from any flat surface, as well as from any pocket, bag, shirt, or hands-free from a bike or scooter. The camera will also have a standard camera mode and will be able to perform self-flipping functions. Additionally, presets exist for containing the camera in certain angles, so that adjusting the camera’s arm in small increments without user interaction is possible.

Some prototypes have been made for long-exposure sky tracking. The star-tracking prototypes have been made using alloys and mediums that will conduct during astronomical observations. Honor’s Robot Phone will have the first AI emotional and spatial ecosystem awareness device on the market. The AI will also be able to coordinate and control entire scenes to interact with the user.

In the golden age of AI, Honor makes clever use of AI in their new phone

The vast AI skills base will be based on an on-device large language model. It will be the most complex AI interaction Honor has ever made with the YOYO digital assistant. The phone learns from the user by analyzing scenes, attempting to predict the user’s intent, and taking action on its own; moving from a passive to a proactive device.

Multi-modal intelligence integrates various kinds of sensors to provide context-aware responses, such as adaptive notifications based on tone, or content capture that auto-activates during scenes of interest. This considerably advances the human-machine relationship. The “robo-face” lens that follows its subjects to aid in navigation or to care for security surveillance without direct supervision is a far cry from the sci-fi AI of the past, and cutting-edge chatbots of the present.

The industry revolutionising phone that will make competitors sweat

Honor now refers to the Robot Phone as a “new species” of AI device, as they predict a revolutionary species transition, from the iPhone to robot companions in his Alpha Plan. New imaging technologies, including optics and sensor fusion, transform vlogging into a hands-free, automated, and almost effortless task. Design and system software create a living interface that provides voice control, and a responsive system to movement for the integration of technologies in the ecosystem. As production ramps up, the phone, now empowered with AI, is expected to prioritize user experience and human interaction, rather than technical specifications.

The soft-launch of the phone in the midst of AI competition highlights the robotics angle to market, and possibly inspires, a suite of autonomous mobile companions. Prototypes have captured interest by offering convenience and ease of use through practical gimbal features. Concerns have been expressed regarding the durability of moving components, however, based on the strong performance of Honor’s foldables, these concerns are limited.

The device will be available in the first half of 2026, and the device and its functions will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in March 2026. The official global device release and its global availability have not been confirmed yet. From the beginning, teasers speak of a future where phones will “see, feel, react to the user.” This establishes Honor’s position on the cutting edge of embodied intelligence.
