The European continent is set to experience a radical shift in the AI sector following the announcement by two technology giants of a revolutionary expansion meant to reshape the AI landscape in the region in a way that will make the continent an AI-independent region. The two organizations, HPE and NVIDIA, announced their ambitious project to launch the first AI Factory Lab in the European Union in Grenoble, France.

Grenoble facility leads the way in European sovereign AI testing

The AI Factory Lab in Grenoble symbolizes a radical way to answer the European need for data sovereignty and regulatory issues. This cutting-edge lab offers its consumers an environment to validate and iterate workloads in a sovereign air-cooled AI factory platform infused with the latest AI Enterprise Government Ready Software from NVIDIA. The lab is a combination of HPE Servers, HPE Networking PTX and MX routers, and accelerated computing and Spectrum-X Ethernet networks of NVIDIA.

European markets are turning to the need for data and operational sovereignty in order to embrace AI through secure and privacy-infused infrastructure. The center allows its customers to test the efficacy of the AI infrastructure based in and residing within the EU and is meant to facilitate scaled AI in the region. The entire infrastructure solutions environment is meant to handle the data sovereignty and regulatory demands of global businesses in the European Union environment.

UK Private AI Lab fast-tracks enterprise adoption

HPE is collaborating with Carbon3.ai to offer a Private AI Lab in London to fast-track the application of AI in the enterprise sector in the UK. Based on HPE Private Cloud AI and the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite and fueled by the NVIDIA AI infrastructure, the lab will complement the Grenoble lab in providing AI sovereignty across the European sector.

Increased Private Cloud AI capabilities cater to sovereign mandates

HPE Private Cloud AI has rolled out new options and solutions designed to focus and serve the sovereignty objectives of the European sector. The enhanced solutions offer the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU solutions and the newest solutions from NVIDIA Hopper architectures, thereby giving businesses options across a variety of workloads.

The inclusion of the hardened and FIPS-enabled NVIDIA AI Enterprise in the air-gapped environment provides an added security feature. HPE Private Cloud has added GPU fractionalization to increase efficiency and provide an affordable solution through the application of the NVIDIA Multi-instance GPU feature. Different regulatory requirements are met by the solution while efficiency is maintained in the process.

Advanced networking solutions optimize multi-cloud AI performance

The AI Factory Networking solutions provided by HPE utilize the NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking platform and the NVIDIA BlueField-3 data processing units (DPUs). The AI Factory Networking solutions offer the customers the advantage of accelerated networking in production and datacenter-to-datacenter and datacenter-to-cloud solutions. The solutions include the functionality of the HPE Juniper Networking solutions for enhanced connectivity capabilities.

The HPE Juniper Networks MX and PTX routers provide high-speed routing solutions that offer high-scale, secure, and low-latency access to AI factories from users, devices, and agents. The routers provide interconnections for clusters spanning larger distances and across multicloud infrastructures to ensure a seamless experience irrespective of the infrastructural and geographic locations.

Availability timeline:

  1. AI Factory Lab in Grenoble: Q2, 2026
  2. NVIDIA GB200 NVL4: Available Now
  3. Sovereign AI Factories: Available NOW
  4. HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000: January 2026

This collaborative effort, made possible through the tie-up between HPE and NVIDIA, marks the beginning of a new and transformed phase in the development of AI infrastructure in the European region. The two facilities to be established in France and the UK will ensure the European region leads in AI developments and satisfy the necessary regulatory data sovereignty rules and regulations at the same time.
